Things You’ll Need:

• WinRar
• Setup exe. file of the program you wish to use.
Step1. The first thing you are going to need to do is download two programs, Universal Extractor and WinRar. To download the Universal Extractor, to to the software section at http://www.legroom.net . Follow the simple instructions on download and installation. To download WinRar, go to the download section of http://www.rarlabs.com . Download the free trial version, and follow their simple instructions.
Step2. Once you download the two programs you will need for this process, decide which program you would like to install. For example, you could download the free music recording and editing software Audacity from http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ .
Step3. After your program is downloaded, right-click on the setup file. If you have properly installed Universal Extractor, one of your options should be to uniextract to sub-directory. A command prompt will open and it will automatically extract to a folder, on your desktop or wherever you save it.
Step4. Open the folder, and search for the folder which contains the executable file that opens the application(you can test it to make sure it works properly). Highlight all of the files needed for the program in that folder. Right-click, and click on add to archive.
Step5. Change the archive name to whatever you want, such as: Audacity Portable. Click on create SFX archive. Choose “best” under the category “Compression Method”.
Step6. Go to the advanced tab. Click on SFX options. When the options window comes up, type the name of the executable (Audacity.exe) in “Run After Extraction” in the SetUp Program category. In the Modes tab, click on unpack to temporary folder and hide all. In the Update tab, click on “Overwrite All Files”.
Step7. Click OK to exit both windows. If all has gone correctly, it should create a single executable file that you can copy to your flash drive, mp3 player, or external hard drive and use from any computer you choose.
